Mark Cameron and Graham Haslam are attempting to set a Guinness world record for
driving an electric golf cart from Pattaya to Phuket, on behalf of the local charity. For those of you who are not so familiar with Thailand’s geography, that is approximately 1,400 kilometres through 9 different provinces!
Dubbed “The Longest Drive”, the record attempt started on 8 May at The Hard Rock Cafe Pattaya and is set to take up to 24 days to complete, with the finishing party at Hard Rock Cafe Phuket on 8 April. In order to complete a journey of this magnitude, the golf cart is fitted with 6 8-volt Trojan batteries, which deliver an amazing 95 kilometres per day
The record attempt has received great support from Phuket and around Thailand and have recently passed the 1 million Thai Baht mark for the Phuket Has Been Good To Us Foundation.
The Phuket Has Been Good To Us Foundation works to give local young people a chance to improve their economic situation and create opportunities by funding high quality English language education in underprivileged schools in Phuket. More than 1,000 children in 3 local schools have benefited from the foundations work to date.
