The media have been reporting a series of bomb blasts in Southern Thailand over the past 24 hours, claiming the lives of 3 people and injuring several others.
The areas affected seem to be Hua Hin, Surat Thani, Trang and Patong Beach in Phuket.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and the relatives of those affected and we do hope that the local authorities will be able to identify and arrest the culprits of these cowardly attacks as soon as possible.
At this stage it is not clear who is responsible for the blasts and nobody has claimed responsibility yet.
Attacks like this are a rare occurrence in the Kingdom of Thailand.
Some foreign governments will issue travel advisories for Thailand and advise their citizens to be extra alert and/or avoid mass gatherings of people during their stay in Thailand.
Should you visit Phuket in the coming days, we recommend that you avoid the area around Patong Beach where the authorities are currently investigating the recent blasts.
Otherwise the island of Phuket appears to be functioning as usual and you should be able to continue your travels as planned.
Please contact your local embassy or follow the media coverage for any further updates and make sure to follow all instructions given by the local authorities.
Safe travels from our teams at Serenity Resort & Residences, Friendship Beach Resort, Atmanjai and Ka Villa in Phuket!
